Introducing Public Signing Links — Share Once, Sign Unlimited Times

Traditional e-signature tools assume you already know who's signing. You add recipient names, enter email addresses one by one, and send each person their own invitation. That works great for a contract with a specific counterparty.

But what about a gym waiver for every new member? A model release you want to share before a shoot? An NDA you'd like to embed on your website? An offer letter going out to 40 seasonal hires?

The "send to a named recipient" model falls apart fast.

That's exactly why we built Public Signing Links.

Public Signing Links let you generate a shareable URL tied to any document template. Share the link anywhere—your website, a QR code, an email footer, a Slack message—and anyone who clicks it can sign, without needing an Inkless account and without you having to add them as a recipient first.

Each signer verifies their email via a one-time passcode (OTP), gets their own isolated document instance, signs, and they're done. You can track every submission from your dashboard.

One link. Unlimited signers. Full legal compliance.

How It Works

  1. Create a template — Set up your document once with the fields you need (signature, name, date, etc.)
  2. Generate a public link — Inkless creates a unique, cryptographically secure URL tied to that template
  3. Share it anywhere — Drop it on your website, print it as a QR code, include it in an email
  4. Signer verifies their email — Before accessing the document, each signer enters their name + email and confirms a 6-digit code sent to their inbox
  5. They get their own document — Every signer receives a unique document instance — submissions are never shared or blended together
  6. You track everything — All completed submissions appear in your dashboard with signer name, email, document ID, and timestamp

Who Is This Built For?

Event Organizers & Venues

Liability waivers and release forms are the perfect use case. Instead of managing a sign-in sheet or chasing paper forms, generate one link, print it as a QR code, and let attendees sign on their own device before (or at) the event.

Gyms, Studios & Wellness Businesses

Membership waivers, class liability forms, consent for services — these are documents every new client needs to sign, but you rarely know their email in advance. Embed the link on your booking confirmation page or display a QR code at the front desk.

Photographers & Creatives

Model release forms are notoriously awkward to collect. Share your public signing link before a shoot and get it done before the first shutter click.

HR Teams & High-Volume Hiring

When you're onboarding 30 seasonal hires at once, manually adding each person as a recipient is painful. With a public link, you share it with the cohort, everyone signs their own copy, and your dashboard shows you exactly who's completed it.

Real Estate Agents

Open house NDAs or visitor agreements — one link on a sign at the door, or shared in a listing email. Every visitor signs individually, every submission is tracked.

Freelancers & Small Businesses

Add your standard service agreement link to your proposal template, your email footer, or your booking page. New clients sign before the work starts, without you having to manually send an envelope each time.

SaaS Founders & Developers

Beta NDA? Early access agreement? Embed the link on your waitlist page. Anyone who signs up gets the verification flow automatically — no manual follow-up required.

Legally Binding? Yes — Here's Why

A fair question: if anyone can sign, is it actually enforceable?

Yes, and here's the chain of evidence that makes it so:

  1. Email OTP verification — Before a signer can view the document, they must prove they control the email address they entered. A 6-digit one-time code is sent to their inbox, and they must enter it correctly. This establishes identity.
  2. Audit trail — Inkless captures every step in order: Email Verification Requested → Email Verified → Document Viewed → Signature Consent → Document Completed. This sequence satisfies the legal requirements under UETA and the ESIGN Act.
  3. Isolated document instances — Each signer gets their own unique document with their own audit trail. Submissions are legally separate and individually attributable.
  4. Tamper-proof record — The completed document and its audit trail are locked after signing. Nothing can be changed retroactively.

The result is a signing flow that's frictionless for the signer but produces the same legally binding, court-admissible record as any traditional e-signature workflow.

You Stay in Full Control

Public doesn't mean unmanaged. As the document owner, you have complete control over the link lifecycle:

  • Pause at any time — Stop new submissions instantly without deleting existing records
  • Rotate the slug — Generate a new URL, immediately invalidating the old one (old submissions are preserved)
  • Set an expiry date — Links can be configured to stop accepting submissions after a specific date and time
  • Track all submissions — See every signer's name, email, document ID, and completion timestamp in one place
  • Auto-release — Optionally configure the link to automatically finalize signed documents upon completion

Security Under the Hood

"Anyone can sign" shouldn't mean "anything goes." Here's what's protecting your documents:

  • Session tokens are SHA-256 hashed at rest — a leaked token can't be used to reconstruct access
  • OTP codes are salted and peppered before hashing — resistant to rainbow table attacks
  • URL slugs use cryptographically random base64url tokens — not guessable or enumerable
  • Per-email and per-link OTP rate limiting — prevents spam submissions and inbox flooding
  • Attempt caps and resend cooldowns — stop brute-force OTP guessing before it starts
