Bulk sending with a CSV file

Need to send the same document to dozens of people at once — an onboarding packet to a whole new-hire class, a waiver to a full roster? Bulk Send generates one document per row of a spreadsheet, all from a single template.

Available on Starter and Starter Team plans.

Note: Bulk Send only works from a template. If you haven't saved your document as a template yet, do that first.

Steps

  1. On the Templates page, click Bulk Send on the template you want to use.
  2. Either paste your data into the Paste CSV tab, or switch to Upload File and click Choose File to select a .csv file. (Only the Choose File button works on this tab — dragging a file onto it currently does nothing, so use the button.)
  3. Check the live preview table — rows with problems are highlighted in red with an explanation underneath.
  4. Click Send N Valid to send only the rows that passed validation.

CSV format

If your template has one recipient slot: use columns name, email, and optionally phone.

If your template has multiple recipient slots: number your columns per signer — name_1, email_1, phone_1, name_2, email_2, phone_2, and so on. Each row creates one complete document with all of that row's signers.

Click Sample in the dialog to download a correctly-formatted CSV to start from.

  • Phone numbers are optional, and must be US numbers if included.
  • Every email in a row must be unique to that row.
  • Rows with missing names/emails, invalid email formats, or invalid phone numbers are flagged and excluded — they won't block the rest of your batch from sending.
  • Maximum 100 rows (documents) per batch.

Tip: The example data Inkless pre-fills into the Paste CSV tab for single-signer templates isn't meant to be sent as-is — replace it with your real recipient list before clicking send.

After sending

You'll see a confirmation of how many documents were sent, and — on paid plans — every recipient you entered is automatically saved to your contacts for next time.
