Resending, editing, and releasing sent documents
Once a document is out for signature, you have a few ways to keep it moving.
Resend a reminder email
If a recipient hasn't signed yet, click Resend pending emails on their document (available from both the Dashboard and All Documents). This re-sends the signing email to everyone still unsigned.
Note: To prevent spamming recipients, you can only resend once every 12 hours per document. If a document uses a signing order, resending only re-emails whoever is up next in the sequence — not everyone.
Fix a recipient's name or email
Click the pencil icon next to a recipient's name (on Dashboard or All Documents) to correct a typo in their name or email address after you've already sent the document. This only works for recipients who haven't signed yet, and is available on paid plans.
If a document uses a signing order, you can also click Change order to reshuffle recipients who haven't been notified yet — anyone already emailed or already signed is locked in place and can't be reordered.
Release a document that isn't fully signed
Normally, a document finalizes automatically once everyone signs (if Auto-release is on). If you need the finished PDF sooner — say, most signers are done but one is unreachable — click Release via Email:
- If everyone has already signed, this simply finalizes and emails the document right away.
- If some recipients are still pending, you'll see a confirmation explaining that releasing now locks out the remaining signers permanently — they won't be able to add their signature after you release. This partial-release option is available on paid plans.
