Downloading signed documents and audit records

Once a document is fully signed (or released while partially signed), you can download it and its supporting records.

Downloading the signed PDF

From either your Dashboard or All Documents, click Download on a completed document. If it's a document set, Inkless downloads every document in the set one after another — your browser may ask you to allow multiple downloads.

Audit Logs

Click the menu on a document in All Documents and choose View Audit Logs to see a full, timestamped history of everything that happened to it — when it was created, viewed, and signed, by whom, and from what IP address where available.

This view also shows the document's SHA-256 checksum once it's finalized: a unique fingerprint of the final file. If you (or a counterparty) ever need to prove a downloaded PDF hasn't been altered, you can independently compute its checksum and compare it against this value.

Certificate of Completion

Choose Download Certificate of Completion and Audit Log from the same menu to download a standalone PDF certificate — a tamper-evident summary of who signed, when, their IP addresses, and their consent to sign electronically. This is designed to support ESIGN Act / UETA compliance if you ever need to demonstrate a document's validity.

Note: The certificate can only be downloaded once a document is finalized — if you try before then, you'll see a message that the PDF isn't finalized yet.

Whether a certificate is automatically appended to every finalized PDF (in addition to being downloadable separately) is controlled in Settings; see Document preferences: certificates, date format & notifications.
