Everyday essentials
Uploading a document
This is the first step in sending anything for signature: getting your PDF into Inkless.
Steps
- Click Upload in the sidebar.
- Drag and drop a PDF onto the upload card, or click anywhere on the card (or the Select File button) to browse for one.
- Inkless checks the file and, if everything looks good, takes you straight into the field-placement editor to start preparing it for signature.
File requirements
- PDF only. Other file types are rejected with an "Invalid file type" message.
- 5 MB maximum. Larger files are rejected — try compressing the PDF and uploading again.
- No password protection or encryption. Inkless can't place fields on or process a PDF that has a password, an open restriction, or owner/permissions security applied. If your PDF is protected, remove the security in whatever program you used to create it (or print it to a fresh, unprotected PDF) and upload that instead.
Note: If you select or drop more than one file at once, only the first PDF is used — the rest are ignored. To send several documents together, use Document Sets instead.
What happens next
Uploading doesn't send anything yet — it just loads your PDF into the editor so you can add fields and recipients. Nothing is saved to your account until you click Send for Signing. See Adding fields to your document to continue.
